Tenpin Bowling
I work in a bowling alley and my gosh I love it. I signed my contract 19th February 2013. It was busy and I was wearing leggings and boots with a bright pink work shirt, this was incorrect uniform clearly making a great first impression (uniform was actually jeans and trainers). This was my first job back after having cancer so I was super nervous.
The people there are so lovely and my confidence grew every single day. I worked hard and trained even harder learning reception, bar, diner and became a lane host/party host. By february 2014 I felt good where I was and applied for unit supervisor, unfortunately I was unsuccessful but I was aloud to learn some unit supervisor bits and pieces from the Deputy Manager Lyndsey.
I worked my bottom off trying to proove I would have been a good unit supervisor, I was already staff representative. By the end of November 2014 I became ill again with Thyrotoxicosis/ graves disease and had 182 days on the sick. I spent most of this time waiting for appointments and not really leaving the flat, taking beta blockers so I didn't have a heart attack.
It is now May 2015 and I had my return to work meeting with my General Manager Marc. It went really well and we both agreed I need to take it easy working two evening shifts to start of with. I agreed with everything he said and I am going to take it easy but I am very money motivated.
I cannot wait to go back and see all my friends and get my confidence back because it has dropped not having worked for 6 months. It is weird because when I first started working here it was just and inbetween job to get me back on my feet. I had no idea I would love it as much as I do.
Sorry for rambling on but I want to take you on my working adventures as well as every other adventure!!
Becky xx
